But you’d be wrong.

You also may think the cops said drivers of headlightless vehicles drove past would have pulled them over, as it is illegal to drive without headlights in “visibility of less than 500 feet” in the state of Wisconsin since June 2016 but you’d also be wrong.

It’s crazy isn’t it? Why wouldn’t you want to see things and be seen by others so they don’t hit you...

Also, apparently some newer cars will light up the dash at all times but not turn in the actual head lights which I find odd. options for lights should be parking lights, or on (head and tail). And then an idiot option for those who don’t know when they should have their lights on.

I’ve long said that’s probably about 80% of the problem, especially if they’re driving newer cars. The other 20% is split or shared with lack of driver training/reading the manual or being told how a new or new-to-you car works, DRLs, or people who are ignorant and just DGAF.

If the morons are driving at NIGHT with DRLs... I really don’t expect much.

I don’t understand why this isn’t enforced. MUCH easier tickets to prosecute than speeding fines. I mean there’s no way your headlights are on if your dipped taillights are off. And it’s outright dangerous when everyone are buying dark or black cars, you just see this Civic appear in front of you with all lights off out of nowhere.

Why should I turn my lights on? I can see just fine.

Yes, the idiots here in California also love to drive their silver colored import cars in the rain without lights on, making themselves almost invisible in gloomy and wet weather.

Same deal here, this evening. I must have passed about 5 cars in as many miles sneaking through the fog without their lights on.

I’ve seen a lot of cars where the dash lights up and lights go on in the front automatically when the outside light is low, but the taillights do not come on automatically. So if you look at the dash or you look out the window ahead you think the lights are on all over and you’re OK, but people behind you don’t get any warning so they can run into you in the fog. Another example of bad design. “Oh look, let’s add this new automatic improvement!”
